Dalgety Bay
is just a few miles from the Forth Road Bridge, and is easily
reached by taking the second exit North of the Bridge (on
the M90). It is signposted for Dalgety Bay. At the bottom
of the slip road, take the third exit off the round about
onto the A921, signposted Dalgety Bay/Inverkeithing.
St. David’s Harbour is on the West side of Dalgety
Bay, and is sign posted. To find the car park at the start
of the clues, follow Harbour Drive (from the western-most
roundabout posted for Dalgety Bay on the A921) down to the
bottom, under an archway, and go left at the very bottom.
From the car park behind the apartments at the St. David’s
Harbour beach, follow the coastal path heading east.
An early stretch of the coastal path goes through a residential
area on a paved road.
Go right on the dirt path, as directed by coastal path
sign.
Continue on. You will go down and up steps.
When you reach the Bathing House Wood (sign posted) take
the fork leading 80 degrees from North.
Follow path to the short coastal path sign post at the
bay. At this point you have three options. Take the path
leading approximately 150 degrees from North.
Climb the steep steps to the top of the rock, and veer
off path 270 degrees from north.
Follow path 35 to 40 paces, and at this point, head towards
the water.
When you reach the point where your compass points line
up the following:
- Tall wooden structure : 90 degrees
- Top of hill behind Hound Point Tanker Terminal: 185 degrees
- Northern most tower of Forth Road Bridge: 245 degrees
- Conservatory attached to the house by trees: 280 degrees
The letterbox should be directly below you. All points are
approximate.
